Locks 4 Love
Locks for Love is a Valentine’s Day-themed event held in February, where participants raise money and donate 8 or more inches of hair to Angel Hair for Kids. Angel Hair for Kids is a program run by A Child’s Voice Foundation that provides wigs for children with medically-induced hair loss. Angel Hair for Kids provides all wigs free of cost for financially disadvantaged families, which is astonishing considering that 10-12 ponytails and over $800 are required to make one hair prosthesis. These wigs help to improve the confidence, well-being, and quality of life of sick children – it’s amazing what a simple hair donation can do for someone else!
At the event, professional hairstylists from Eliegante Hair Design & Spa, a renowned hair salon in Hamilton, provide free haircuts to our participants in order to help their beauty & courage shine through :)
The minimum donation is $75, but our participants never cease to amaze us with their fundraising efforts - during the 2017 event alone we were able to raise record-breaking $8,600 for this meaningful cause!
